CivicCamp 3-D Saturday, December 4, 2010
If voter turnout in the recent civic election and steady increase in CivicCamp membership are any indication (and we believe they are) then Calgarians are certainly fired up about the future of their city and ready to participate in record numbers. Hence the CivicCamp Logistics gang figures it’s time for a gathering of the clan to reacquaint old Campers, welcome new Campers, celebrate our accomplishments and energize people to continue moving from good intentions to good causes.
The Calgary Public Library will be our co-presenter for CivicCamp 3-D and has graciously offered to host this event in the John Dutton Theatre at the WR Castell Central Library. Our focus for the day will be the question:
In the coming year, what do you think are the best opportunities to make Calgary a better place?
So, mark the morning of Saturday, December 4 on your calendar and watch for further information on how to register for CivicCamp 3-D online. If you’re not already on our email list and wish to receive an email when invitations go out, lift your gaze to the top righthand corner of this page and add your name to our email list via the blue “Get CivicCamp Email” box.
CivicCamp 3-D will be a time to reflect on the recent election and what it means for civic engagement in Calgary. We’ll do this through panel discussions, video presentations, Q&A’s and more before moving to smaller Affinity Groups for practical discussions on how to continue building on what CivicCamp has already achieved. We hope to re-energize groups that are already working on projects, re-activate those that “went quiet” during the election period and add new groups as dictated by CivicCampers leading up to and during the event. Come ready to share your thoughts and ideas but also ready to roll up your sleeves and get to work.
As always, we’ll need lots of help to pull this off. Spread the word to friends, family members and colleagues citywide and, better yet, volunteer to help with registration, general logistics for the day, leading group discussions and more. Contact us at info (at) civiccamp (dot) org and let us know how you would like to help.
